Haiti needs our help

Friends and Family…

As you all know Haiti is in a world of hurt. WATER – One of the precious things we take for granted every day, is unavailable for those in Haiti. While watching the news the other night I couldn’t help but feel for those that, amongst all the chaos, couldn’t even find a drink of water. It was disheartening watching the eyes of children, scared, injured, hungry and thirsty. Although the world is helping, nothing is happening fast enough.

I have been able to make arrangements with an air cargo carrier to ship pallets of water from Miami to Haiti. They ship on a Boeing 727-200 which can accommodate only 20,000lbs of cargo due to restrictions placed on the runway in Haiti. Each pallet of water weighs 1987lbs and contains 1680 bottles of water. Miami based airline, Amerijet International, Inc. has teamed up with World Fuel Services to donate a relief flight(s) from Miami to Port-au-Prince, Haiti and they will include as much water as they can accommodate.

In addition to working with Amerijet I was placed in contact with Project Medishare, and through them, Royal Caribbean cruise line has agreed to “take as much water as we can give”. They have a resort on Haiti in a place called Labadee that was not damaged by the earthquake and they can get ships with supplies in. Project Medishare www.projectmedishare.org <http://www.projectmedishare.org> will distribute the water and other items we are able to send.

Mango International, an international freight company has agreed to move the water from the Costco warehouse to its final location for shipping by air and boat at no charge.

So far, I have managed to get the water shipped from the warehouse to its point of departure free of cost. Costco has made a $500,000 donation to the relief effort and I haven’t been able to procure the water free of cost. That’s where you come in. Each pallet of water contains 1980, 16.9oz bottles and cost only $225. That’s getting a lot of people water! Any help you can provide with these pallets will touch and sustain the lives of many. I don’t have an elaborate system for obtaining donations. You can write a check, make it to Redwood Credit Union and write “Haiti Water” on the memo and send it to:
